Marks/Inscriptions: SANDWEDGE NIBLIC (sic) by L.A. YOUNG GOLF COMPANY, Detroit Michigan, PERIOD 1930. Heavy concave face, flange sole niblic (sic) invented by E.K. MacCain, Houston, Texas, and Introduced (sic) by Horton Smith. Concave face ruled illegal by U.S.G.A. soon after its appearance in tournaments. This was the first sand wedge. Donated by L.A. Young Golf Company, Detroit, Michigan. 5K (on card attached to shaft). SAND WEDGE PATD. 1695598 (along inside edge of wedge), WALTER HAGAN (under triangular logo of L.A.
