Description: Spalding Dot, rubber—core golf ball in dimple pattern. Painted white with red and blue markings on it. On each side there is the number 1 with a lion above and an eagle below. This particular ball was used by Francis Ouimet, who sent a signed letter with it (see B 160.02).

Additional Notes: This ball was used by Francis Ouimet, who was known as the Father of Amateur Golf. He sent this golf ball to the country club in November of 1951, which is right after he became the first non—Briton to be elected Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. Ouimet states that this was one of the balls he used in playing exercises at St. Andrews, which makes this ball pretty significant.
